Chain Of Survival

Zens Medical Centre embraces a holistic approach to emergency care through its unique application of the globally recognized “Chain of Survival” model. This model is symbolized by five interconnected hearts, each representing a critical phase in the emergency response process—from first contact to recovery.

Zens supports this level by providing organizations with First Responder Training, accredited by the Fiji National University (FNU). This training equips designated First Aid Champions with skills in early emergency recognition, CPR, AED use, and effective communication. With a two-year certification period, the program enhances the capacity of organizations to respond effectively in the initial minutes of a medical emergency.

The fourth heart is represented by Zens’ Emergency Medical Response (EMR) team. During emergencies, an Emergency Physician at Zens coordinates directly with the trained first responder, offering expert guidance while deploying an experienced retrieval team to the site. This rapid intervention ensures patients receive timely, advanced care on-site and are safely transferred for further treatment.

The fifth and final heart represents Zens’ medical facility, where comprehensive diagnostic services, monitoring, and access to specialist care are provided. This stage supports patient stabilization and recovery, completing the emergency care journey.

For organizations that already have established pre-hospital systems, Zens offers seamless integration into the fourth and fifth hearts. Through strong clinical governance and a commitment to quality and safety, Zens ensures continuity of care from the point of emergency through to full recovery.

In summary, Zens Medical Centre’s 5-heart emergency care model builds a connected and responsive system that saves lives through preparedness, expert coordination, and clinical excellence. It is a dependable framework for any organization seeking to strengthen its emergency care readiness.
